How do I vote by absentee ballot?
The best and easiest way to vote an absentee ballot is to go to the election office (suite 1900 in
County Square) and vote in person there in an "absentee" voting booth. An absentee precinct will open there one month before the
election - beginning May 8. You will need to have your registration certificate or SC driver's license or SC photo ID with your
correct address.
The precinct will be open daily, Monday-Friday, from 8:30AM- 5:00 PM. It will be open through the Monday before Election Day. Call
the election office at 467-7250 for additional times the precinct will be open.
A voter may also vote absentee by mail. To do this, call the election office (467-7250) and ask for the absentee precinct. Only the
voter or a member of the voter's immediate family may request an absentee ballot for him/herself. The office will then send an
application for a ballot. Upon receipt of the completed application from the voter, a ballot will be mailed to that voter. After
voting the ballot, the voter mails it back to the election office.
IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER:
**When voting by mail it is crucial that all directions are followed and that all required signatures are on the envelope the ballot
is mailed in! Failure to fill in every blank properly could cause your ballot to be thrown out.
Thank you for making your vote count!
